Opinion of the Story

1. “The Monkey’s Paw”

“The Monkey’s Paw”makes me think of gambling, or playing a casino game. The reason I think of this is because of the way the people act in the story. They attempt to get something via this thing, and when they don’t, they try again. The way this “Monkey Paw” works is if you request something, (by wish) it will give it to you. However, the form in which it is brought in is life-ending, literally. A little deeper the lady’s son dies after the husband wishes for 200 pounds. The 200 pounds is awarded to him by the company the son works at as compensation for the death of their son. But later, the wife tries the Monkey’s Paw to get her son back, and exactly how they get their son back, is unknown because he was dead. But it goes to seem like people who bet via casino, or any way of betting for that matter, lose something, then they try again, yet sometimes if not often fail.

2. “Teeth”

When I think of the story “Teeth” it makes me think of the way Adolf Hitler as a ruler of Germany slaughtered Jews. The way the Japanese were killed, bombed and burned, made me think of how the Jews were killed. Not only have they been killed the same way, but different side effects also seemed similar. Like how the author’s father said “How can I forgive the man / that severed the trunk of my family tree” – Kaye 56-57. The author’s father states here about his family tree getting cut down, this has a similar reference to Hitler because all the Jews that were killed, not only were they wiped off the map, anything they owned was too.

The Colours of Our Mind

So fleeting is this thing called life, we journey toward its end,
experiencing pieces of a puzzle we don’t truly comprehend.

The hues of our emotion paint a picture of our past,
as we hurtle toward a destiny that is not meant to last.

Youth a canvas all in white, not knowing what awaits,
feel caresses of a brush that which we know as fate.

Love so very true in reds, that beat within our heart,
shadows black take form as hate, which tears the soul apart.

Greens of joy and happiness, lush grass beyond compare,
sadness, shrouded depths of blue, the waters of despair.

Yellow screams of agony and pain which we endure.
Guilt and shame are shades of grey, a torrential downpour.

Earthy brown desires are that for which we lust,
the loss of which comes with age, like chrome begins to rust.

The image changing constantly as time plods slowly on,
taking shape in many forms, as the twilight replaces dawn.

We look into a mirror for the answers which we seek,
but we find no consolation as our eyes grow dim and weak.

The final touches on a painting created with much love,
as we realize that the destination is the gallery above…

3 Reasons You Should At Least Try

“If you don’t try, there’s no succeeding.”

That’s a quote I live by, and in times, it actually has helped me. See, the thing is… the quote is the truest thing I’ve ever heard. Someone had seen this quote from me on one of my social media platforms, and said “If you don’t try, there’s no failing… as well.” and to that I say, you will never accomplish what you want or need in life by that memo. If you don’t try, yeah, there’s no failing. But there is also no winning, succeeding, winning, completing, etc. The point is, try, try, and try again. If you don’t try you can’t get it done. That’s true.

1. Food

A lot of people, kids, adults, and even me, have said we did not like some kind of food or drink when we have never even tasted it. And the truth is, no, you don’t know you do not like it until you have tried it. For example, I used to think I hated my Mother’s lasagna, but when I actually tied it one day, I loved it! So, whether it be drink or food, you do not fully know if you like something. At least try it, taste it, and if you hate it, never eat it again. But if you do like it, then bam. You just found a new food you like, (and maybe even love) all because, you tried.

2. Don’t Be A Quitter

When people race, whether it is by car or foot, there are people that are well trained and maybe even better than others. And the truth is, yeah, it’s hard to beat them, but if you don’t try, you never will. Say someone’s really good a racing in NASCAR, and you just signed up, and you know that they are better than you, have more wins than you, and could probably beat you. So, the logical thing to do, don’t try to beat him, he’ll probably beat you. But, that is what people call a quitter. Don’t mind being a quitter? Fine. But realize that when he loses, you could have been the one to take the flag. Everyone falls at some point, and the rising person in place of them can be you. But not if you don’t try.

3. Don’t Give Up yet

When you try, yeah, you might get it and win, but also, you might lose everything, you might want to give up, not fail again, but the truth is, yeah you might try like I’ve said, but you fail. But that’s why we try, right? The thing is, you don’t just try once and give up once you fail, you try again, and again, until you finally win, reach your dream, complete what you needed to complete, then, only when you succeed, is when you truly, stop trying.
